Dan's Story ~ A Custom Design Wedding Bolo Tie

About six months before the order was ever placed, Dan contacted Mike's Custom Bolos through our Shopify messages with an idea and a purpose.

His niece was getting married to a great young man, and Dan wanted to create something truly personal for their wedding—something that represented their love and the kind of people they were.

His first idea involved two musical notes facing one another, with the curves somehow coming together to form an infinity symbol. Dan and Mike worked through several ideas and mockups, but nothing quite captured what Dan had in mind. So they kept going back to the drawing board.

For nearly six months, they would touch base, share another thought, and keep working.

Then one day, Dan emailed us something beautiful.

He had created a centerpiece design featuring the bride's profile, the wedding date, and the words:

"It was written that I would love you."

That was it.

From there, everything began to come together quickly.

Dan and Mike selected the size, shape, and silver finish of the centerpiece. The bride's profile was carefully converted into artwork suitable for engraving. A silver twisted-rope border was chosen to frame the design, followed by matte black braided leather and polished silver HELIOS tips.

Then the order was placed.

And that was when we discovered something we hadn't realized during all those months of designing together:
